Results and Semester 2

It's almost the end of 2021!

Looking back at this year, I feel like a bamboo sprout which has emerged after years of growing roots underground. It has been a phenomenal year of firsts and achievements, and I'm amazed at just how far I have come.

I got my A Level results, took my first acting class and musical theatre class, completed my first semester at NUS with a raw (no S/Us yet) GPA of 4.3, so that's 2nd upper class honours woohoo - and if I get more A's next semester I will use my grade free options to get my FCH grade. I got my first job (sales) and held down my first full-time job (education). I joined my local acting unions, participated in countless auditions and table reads, and auditioned for professional training programs for the first time ever. In terms of technique, I had gone from not even being able to breathe a note to fully enjoying the process of learning. I'm not where I want to be yet, but that is precisely why I train so hard every day.

This year, I tried to kickstart a habit of blogging, but sadly I didn't manage to keep it up once the semester got too busy. I will try my best to do better in 2022 by having a more detailed plan on what to write. In the upcoming semester, I will be taking TS2237 Actors and Acting, TS3243 Stage and Screen, HSI1000 Scientific Inquiry, HSS1000 Social Complexity and DTK1234 Design Thinking. I hope to share with you my thoughts about those modules once I learn more about them! In the meantime, auditions aren't over yet and I can't wait to see where my UCAS journey takes me.

I'm always amazed at the power of dedication and practice, and I credit everything I've achieved in 2021 to everyone who has provided me with the motivation to keep going and pursue my dreams. With their support, I got through the hardest days and pressed on. Being in the performing arts is an incredibly fulfilling experience and I'm grateful to be given the chance to pursue my future in this industry. 

Closing quote of 2021: "Look, we just need to ask one question. What does she major in? Acting and drama. How do we know she's not acting right now?" - who needs enemies when you have friends who make quotes like this. At the same time, I appreciate the acknowledgement:")
