Post-'A' Levels revival
Returning to this blog feels like a breath of fresh air. Now that the Singapore-Cambridge 'A' Levels are over (finally oh my god), I can come back to writing full time and well, I might as well take the opportunity to rethink my scope. Productivity and digital nomadism is pretty far fetched for a student in limbo between high school and university in the middle of a global pandemic, so perhaps its a good idea to shift to talking about things like... local tourism, the Singaporean arts scene, and random drabbles and insights about my personal life before and hopefully, eventually, during university.
Just so you know what you're getting into, my writings are mainly for students who believe that education is not just a vocational pathway to the corporate world, but a way to live within our intellectual curiosities and passions. It is for societal misfits who have found a calling of another kind, who must endure scorn from their closest family members who do not understand or even try to understand. It is for artists and writers and musicians who unwaveringly and wholeheartedly believe in the intricacies of our craft, because we know that if not us, then who else?
It's true when they say once you've been bitten by the theatre bug, there's no going back. It's also true that there is a beginning for every person who has ever been so touched by the arts that they would throw themselves into a life of immersion in that form no matter how hard it is - talent is just shorthand for years of preparation and training. If you find that you simply cannot relate to any of those statements, you're welcome to stick around and follow my journey! I'll be truly honored if I can help you discover your passion. But if you are like me and in one way or another you have chosen a path that others scoff at, you've found your spiritual home here. I'll try to make it as nice (and organized) as possible.
I'm currently trying to apply for admission into a few universities offering variants of drama, theatre and performance across majors and minors. Well, we'll see which ones I can get into and hopefully this time next year I'll be doing a module review of TS1101E;)
